Getting noticed in Las Vegas

After a long flight from New York (hey Continental your first class on 737-800’s isn’t that nice) I touched down in Las Vegas for a long weekend. One of the goals is to see if the clothes really make the man and if I’m treated differently than my previous trips. When I landed I was wearing my bespoke suit and a theory shirt. Bespoke suits have a lot of little touches that scream ‘I’m custom made’ if you know what you’re looking for. The most obvious to spot is the ‘working buttons‘.

When I sat down at the blackjack table, single deck please, the pit boss immediately came over and introduced himself to me. I was playing $15 minimums and without a players card, but the pit boss saw the signs and figured me to be if not a high roller, someone that needed to be treated well. Immediately after a cocktail waitress came up to me first at the table despite there being 3 other players that had been there for quite some time.

The experiment is going pretty well: I was treated significantly better by the staff because of what I was wearing.

  1. What about your All American Stetson? Has it been alluring?

  2. Tonight is partying so I’ll have details tomorrow.
